Despite our passion for creating great displays, the honest answer is that LOCATION is the more critical factor relative to display performance and driving impulse sales.
The fact is that the best location will do more to maximize sales than any other factor, even great display design. If you want to test this assertion, try putting the best display in the back corner of a drug store or grocery store, and get the duster ready. Or take any product and stack it on the floor in the best location and watch it sell!
So, does this mean that great display design is futile? Absolutely not! Great display design maximizes sales! But great display design must also help brands secure that great location.
In addition to being the perfect brand booster, great display design must consider, and lead to ideal placement. In other words, part of great display design must address the retailer’s issues and needs, and consider questions like:
· Will this display fit and function properly in the target location?
· Is the display effective in the target location?
· Does the display work with the surrounding elements in the store?
· Does the display compliment the image of the store?
